Do you offer free surveys?
Yes. We discuss the project first and arrange a site survey where it is the right next step, so the quote reflects the actual room, wall construction and outdoor unit position rather than a guess over the phone.
How long does an air conditioning installation take?
A single-split system (one indoor unit, one outdoor condenser) typically takes half a day to a full day. Multi-split systems with several indoor units, or installations needing longer pipe runs through multiple rooms, usually take one to two days. Commercial and VRF projects are scoped individually at survey stage.
What size air conditioning unit do I need?
Unit size depends on room dimensions, ceiling height, window area, insulation, occupancy and heat-generating equipment, not a single rule of thumb. We calculate the cooling load during the site survey and size the system to it, rather than defaulting to the next size up.
Do I need planning permission for air conditioning?
Most domestic outdoor condenser units fall under permitted development and do not need planning permission. Consent can be required for flats, listed buildings, and properties in conservation areas, or where the unit would face a highway. We flag this during the survey if it applies to your property.
Running costs and servicing
Can air conditioning heat as well as cool?
Modern heat-pump air conditioning can provide efficient cooling in summer and heating in colder months, working as a reverse-cycle system that moves heat into the property rather than generating it directly.
How much does air conditioning cost to run?
Running cost depends on the system's efficiency rating, room size, insulation and how many hours a day it operates. Modern inverter systems modulate compressor speed to match demand rather than cycling fully on and off, which keeps running costs lower than older fixed-speed units. How often should air conditioning be serviced?
An annual service is recommended for most domestic and commercial systems, covering filter cleaning, coil inspection and a refrigerant check. Systems with a refrigerant charge above the F-Gas threshold require a documented annual leak check by a certified engineer, logged in the system's F-Gas record.
Do you service existing systems?
Yes. We provide servicing, planned maintenance, diagnostics and repair support for suitable systems, including ones we did not originally install.

What's the difference between a single-split and multi-split system?
A single-split system pairs one outdoor condenser with one indoor unit, suited to a single room. A multi-split system connects two to five indoor units to one outdoor condenser, suited to whole-flat or multi-room cooling without needing a separate outdoor unit for every room.
Can I install air conditioning in a flat or rented property?
Air conditioning can usually be installed in flats and rented properties, but the outdoor unit and any wall penetration typically need landlord or freeholder consent, and leasehold flats may have additional restrictions on external alterations. We can advise on this at survey stage.
